I've been reading about Germany in the 1920s lately, and I think Lotte would have been a big success there. It was a time and place with a real taste for the bizarre. For all we know, there were performers just like her in the underground clubs.
I'm listening to Kurt Weill's Seven Deadly Sins, and it sounds just like swimming in a river full of toxic waste. Really intense. The perfect soundtrack from the times.
